Our Name

Who was Roberta Webb?

Roberta Morgan Webb was an early childhood teacher who built her home in Harrisonburg. Over the years, many neighborhood children received child care in her home.  She married and raised three daughters, continuing her contributions as a social worker.

Many of Roberta Webb's strengths grew out of her background not far removed from oppression and slavery.  The grandparents who raised her stressed family ties and the value of education.  Roberta was known for self-discipline, kindness, and praise of God.  She served the church and community until her death in 1990 at the age of 102.

To honor her faith and love for children the Roberta Webb Child Care Center was named in her honor.
